Das Kapital: A Critque of Political Economy

by: Karl Marx
One of the most notorious works of modern times, as well as one of the most influential, "Capital" is an incisive critique of private property and the social relations it generates. Living in exile in England, where this work was largely written, Marx drew on a wide-ranging knowledge of its society to support his analysis and generate fresh insights. Arguing that capitalism would create an ever-increasing division in wealth and welfare, he predicted its abolition and replacement by a system with common ownership of the means of production.

Das Kapital

by: Karl Marx
During the 19th century, Europe witnessed one of history’s most powerful leaders, Napoleon Bonaparte, establish an empire that resulted in the redrawing of the European map after his defeat. But while Europe’s imperialistic nations continued to amass greater power across the globe, one of the 19th century’s most influential Europeans went about changing the status quo at home. It would be almost impossible to exaggerate the influence Karl Marx has had upon the world in the last 150 years. Marx was an influential historian, journalist and economist who is widely considered one of the first social scientists, but he is best remembered for advocating socialism, particularly the brand that would take his name.

Capital: A Critique of Political Economy

by: Karl Marx
Capital: A Critique of Political Economy - COMPLETE EDITION - Das Kapital - Karl Marx. In Capital: Critique of Political Economy (1867), Karl Marx proposes that the motivating force of capitalism is in the exploitation of labour, whose unpaid work is the ultimate source of surplus value and then profit both of which concepts have a specific meaning for Marx. The employer is able to claim the right to profits because he or she owns the productive capital assets (means of production), which are legally protected by the capitalist state through property rights (the historical section shows how this right was acquired in the first place chiefly through plunder and conquest and the activity of the merchant and 'middle-man').

Marx's 'Das Kapital' For Beginners

by: Michael Wayne

Marx’s 'Das Kapital' cannot be put into a box marked "economics." It is a work of politics, history, economics, philosophy and even in places, literature (yes Marx’s style is that rich and evocative). Marx’s 'Das Kapital' For Beginners is an introduction to the Marxist critique of capitalist production and its consequences for a whole range of social activities such as politics, media, education and religion. 'Das Kapital' is not a critique of a particular capitalist system in a particular country at a particular time.
